Our History
For nearly 50 years, the Gauvreau family has called this land home, carrying on the trail riding tradition started by the Robert family, one of the first French-speaking settlers in the region.
These trails have been trod by horses for generations. Countless riders got their first taste of the joy and the love of horseback riding here. Families have come riding for decades, and almost everyone in the area knows someone who rode these paths long ago.
Today, Ranch Robert keeps this legacy alive, offering an authentic Lower Laurentians experience on trails that have seen generations of horses and riders alike.

Welcome to Ranch Robert
We’re not fancy.
We’re not staged.
We live by a different rhythm.
Ranch Robert is a family-run working ranch in the Lower Laurentians, near Montreal — a place where mornings start with feeding horses, not checking clocks, and where the land decides the pace of the day.
The buildings are simple. The horses are steady, honest, and cared for before anything else. Nothing here is polished for show. What you find instead is space to slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect with the quiet strength of animals and nature.
This is a place for riders who listen more than they rush. For people who find comfort in the sound of hooves on dirt, leather creaking, wind in the trees, and time unfolding without hurry.
Out here, you don’t escape life — you return to it.
If you’re looking for noise, spectacle, or a staged experience, this won’t be it.
But if you’re looking for a real ranch experience in the Lower Laurentians — rooted in nature, shaped by animals, and carried by a slower rhythm — welcome to Ranch Robert.
